From science fiction but also scientific development itself, technology has always influenced our representations of the possible, the feared or the desired. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are becoming more and more common in the creative field, extending the creation of images to new domains, circuits and logics.
text-to-realm alludes to the visual paradigm derived from the use of AI tools, as well as their importance in the outline of speculative fictions. Through a selection of five digital pieces created with artificial intelligence diffusion models, the exhibition invites us to reflect on the convergence between text, technology and imagination.
The shift from text to image, based on the use of artificial intelligence diffusion models, represents a paradigm shift in contemporary visual creation. These models, trained from massive amounts of data, interpret natural language and generate all kinds of scenarios. This technological evolution redefines our understanding of art and the very nature of creativity in the digital age, opening it up to new domains and languages.
Post-organic landscapes, dystopian (not so) futures, collective and posthuman intelligences, are some of the ideas already rooted in our imaginations, functioning as a reflection of the technification of our current world, where the real, the fictitious, the natural or the synthetic are intertwined and blurred. text-to-realm invites us to reflect on how AI tools amplify our creativity and collaborate in shaping our experiences, worlds and narratives.
The exhibition showcases a selection of five national and international artists, participants of the SOLO AI ’23 AWARD, powered by SOLO at the end of 2022. In collaboration with SMTH, text-to-realm is presented in five different locations across Spain: CC Vialia Vigo, CC Plenilunio, CC Fan Mallorca, CC Zaragoza Outlet, CC Miramar and CC Max Center.
