
Chino Moya
Madrid-raised London resident, self-taught Chino Moya, takes a multidisciplinary approach to his work. He combines filmmaking and photography to explore themes of collapsing utopias, loneliness and the decline of traditional masculinity often employing dark and absurd humour.
He’s currently presenting his solo show Meta-Mythical Optimisation at Seventeen, London and is part of LACMA’s current exhibition titled after his work Digital Witness. Recent shows include Decoding the Black Box at the Museum Stadt Sindelfingen, Germany, the arts and technology fair Voltaje in Bogotá, Colombia, After Human at Steinhauser Gallery, Slovakia and Handle with care in SOLO Independencia, Madrid. Additionally, his large format photographs have been shown at DongGang International Photo Festival in Korea and in his solo show Monosodium Glutamate in London’s Pocko gallery.
In 2021, Moya released his debut feature “Undergods,” a sci-fi film funded by the British Film Institute and Ridley Scott’s company. Premiering in cinemas in the US and the UK, it was selected as Film of the Week by The Guardian and garnered attention in The New York Times and the BBC, among other publications. His previous films have received awards and have been featured in festivals worldwide.
