Chino Moya’s Hybridatas is currently on display as part of the group exhibition ‘Naturaleza Descifrada’.
Presented by CBO Art Agency and Led&Go, the exhibition explores the relationship between technology and ecology, revealing the complexities of living systems and the beauty of the organic world, as well as the tensions between humans and non-humans.
In this new series of videos, Moya explores the fusion of nature and technology by depicting cybernetic creatures made from synthetic materials, plants and animal tissue. Set in hyperrealistic natural environments, these pieces reflect on the fragility of hybrid ecosystems and the urgent need to reconsider the boundaries between the organic and the artificial.
Drawing inspiration from Bruno Latour’s quasi-objects — entities that blur the boundary between nature and artificiality — and N. Katherine Hayles’ proposals for a symbiotic future involving humans, non-human life forms, and technical systems, the series contemplates a future of shared and hybrid consciousness. Here, artificial intelligence transcends the uncanny valley to give rise to sentient beings that generate human empathy, opening the door to deeper forms of emotional and spiritual integration between the digital and physical worlds.
The show will be on display on more than 150 screens across Spain until 15 December. More information in SMTH’s website.
