We’re excited to present a special event with dmstfctn as part of Rhizome World this Sunday 4 May.
Join us for an interactive screening of GOD MODE (ep. 1), where an AI tries (and struggles) to learn how to recognise supermarket products — sharing its frustrations and eventually finding a way to cheat the system. After that, we’ll dive into Godmode Epochs, a fast-paced browser clicker game set in the same simulated supermarket. Each round is a training “epoch” where players race against time to help an AI identify items on the shelves. As the AI becomes overwhelmed, players unlock and explore its memories — strange, sometimes absurd stories of other AIs that cheated their way through training.

About dmstfctn
London-based artist duo dmstfctn explores opaque systems of power through performance, installation, video games and film. Their work often involves audiences directly, inviting them into the ‘demystification’ of systems by replicating and replaying them, and into their ‘remystification’ by building worlds, characters and myths atop them.
About Rhizome
Rhizome champions born-digital art and culture through commissions, exhibitions, scholarship, and digital preservation. Founded by artist Mark Tribe as an email discussion list including some of the first artists to work online, Rhizome has played an integral role in the history of contemporary art engaged with digital technologies and the internet.
